Major Ewald Kockritz 1913 - May 1996 Major Ewald Kockritz was the founding father of the Strawhats. It is due to his vision and the passion to see that vision through that we are the elite unit that we are today. We thank him for all he's done for the Strawhats.
Sgt Major David Rose
22 August 1942 - 15 June 2004 The Vacant Chair Words by H.S.W., Music by Geo. F. Root (Davie’s favorite song) We shall meet, but we shall miss him, there will be one vacant chair; We shall linger to caress him, while we breathe our evening prayer. When a year ago we gathered, joy was in his mild blue eyes; But a golden cord is severed, and our hopes in ruin lie. True they tell us wreaths of glory, evermore will deck his brow; But this soothes the anguish only, sweeping o’er our heartstrings now. Sleep today, O early fallen, in they green and narrow bed; Dirges from the pine and cypress, mingle with the tears we shed. |
